What are Dentures?
Dentures are a removable dental prosthetic custom-made to fit the unique shape of your mouth. They can be used to replace a few missing teeth (partial dentures) or a full arch of teeth (complete dentures). Missing teeth affect your health and your quality of life. Dentures offer a durable, cost-effective method of restoring your smile and allowing you to return to doing daily tasks such as eating and speaking with ease.
Benefits of Dentures:
- Easier Time Eating, Drinking, and Speaking: Dentures help you regain the ability to enjoy a variety of foods and communicate clearly, improving daily function.
- Increased Confidence: With dentures, you can smile with ease, knowing your replacement teeth look natural and fit comfortably.
- Removable Option: Unlike implants and veneers, dentures can be taken out for cleaning or adjustments, offering flexibility in maintenance.
- Support for Facial Structure: Dentures provide support to your lips and face, helping to maintain your facial structure and overall appearance.

Full, Strong Smiles Are Possible
Reclaim confidence in your smile with dentures from Edkin
Dentures act as a replacement for missing teeth and restore the appearance of your wonderful smile. Unlike other types of restorative dental treatments such as implants or veneers, dentures are removable. This flexibility in function and cost can make dentures an excellent option, especially for those who are missing several teeth which has resulted in a diminished quality of life.
We offer three types of dentures to our patients:
- Full Dentures - Commonly known as a full plate, all natural teeth are replaced
- Partial Dentures - These sit on a metal framework that attaches to several of your remaining teeth, occasionally reinforced with dental crowns. Partial dentures are a removable alternative to a dental bridge
- Implant Overdentures - This modern method is secured by at least 2 dental implants, ensuring your denture plate does not fall out or come off unexpectedly. This option is more comfortable and secure when compared to traditional full dentures
Highly experienced in prosthodontics, Edkin Family Dentistry is known for our personalized denture care with long-lasting results. As part of your individualized treatment process, we'll work with you to understand your health and lifestyle to design a fully customized set of dentures to fit your needs. With our personalized approach, we'll ensure that your dentures compliment your facial structure and give your smile a natural, confident appearance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Commonly known as a full plate, full dentures replace all of your natural teeth. If you are considering full dentures, all remaining natural teeth will have to be removed to allow the prosthetic to sit comfortably and securely. During the healing process and while your customized dentures are created in our dental lab, we will place temporary dentures to ensure you maintain a natural smile and never go without teeth.
For those with existing full dentures that are causing discomfort or do not have a desirable appearance, we can fabricate a new denture that will fit well, look natural, and improve your ability to eat the foods you know and love.
Similar to a dental bridge, partial dentures sit on a metal framework that attaches to several of your remaining teeth for support. Depending on a patient's individual needs, we will sometimes place dental crowns to provide improved stability and support for your dentures. Partial dentures offer a removable alternative to dental bridges, which are stationary, and can return support to the face and lips when missing front teeth.
This modern denture type is ideal for patients who are missing several or all teeth. While traditional full dentures are secured to the mouth using adhesive, implant overdentures use at least 2 dental implants as attachment points to provide support for your denture. This secure method ensures that the denture does not fall out or become displaced unexpectedly. Chewing effectiveness is also improved with this denture type, as the prosthetic does not sit directly on the gums. Overdentures can replace any number of missing teeth, including all teeth in your upper and/or lower jaw.
One of the most common benefits of dentures is cost. Dentures are ideal for those seeking affordable ways to replace missing teeth. Custom-made dentures improve your confidence and quality of life, allowing you to smile, eat, and speak freely.
