Braces & Teeth Straightening

Understanding Braces.

Braces are orthodontic dental devices used to correct misaligned teeth and jaws. Commonly used to help correct crooked teeth, crowded teeth, gaps, overbites, underbites, and crossbites, braces are a great option for those looking to correct their smile and increase quality of life when it comes to eating and speaking.

Some of the benefits of braces and teeth straightening are:

  • Improved dental alignment: Properly positioned teeth result in a better looking smile with improved function
  • Enhanced oral health: Straight teeth are easier to clean and maintain, decreasing the risk of future dental issues such as decay or gum disease
  • Bite correction: Bite problems can impact chewing, speech, and jaw alignment. Braces help to improve the overall bite function and alleviate jaw discomfort
  • Boosted confidence: A straight and beautiful smile can significantly increase your self-confidence, especially when smiling and speaking.

Braces offer more than just a cosmetic enhancement; they are a crucial investment in your long-term dental health and overall well-being. By addressing alignment issues, braces help ensure that your teeth function properly, which can prevent future complications and improve your quality of life. The transformation you undergo with braces extends beyond a beautiful smile—it impacts your daily comfort, confidence, and oral health. Braces provide a comprehensive solution for achieving a well-aligned smile, contributing to better oral health and a more confident you.

Radiant Smiles Are Possible

Take the first step towards a new smile

Are you lacking confidence in your smile and find yourself concealing it? With the transformative power of braces treatment, you can restore your confidence with a radiant smile. Advances in orthodontics have significantly enhanced the aesthetics and comfort of braces, moving beyond traditional metal appliances to offer a range of options that fit seamlessly into your lifestyle.

Braces may be right for you if you experience any of the following:

  • Crooked Teeth: Misaligned teeth that affect both appearance and function, making it challenging to achieve a straight smile and proper bite.
  • Crowded Teeth: Teeth that are too close together, complicating oral hygiene and potentially leading to gum health issues and decay.
  • Gaps Between Teeth: Spaces that impact your smile’s appearance and may contribute to bite problems or discomfort.
  • Overbite, Underbite, Open Bite, or Crossbite: Bite issues disrupting the alignment of your teeth and jaws, potentially causing difficulties with chewing and speaking.

Braces offer a comprehensive solution for achieving a well-aligned smile, improving both appearance and function. By addressing alignment issues, braces enhance your quality of life, making everyday activities like eating and speaking more comfortable and enjoyable. At Edkin Family Dentistry, we are dedicated to helping you achieve a confident and healthy smile with personalized care and advanced orthodontic solutions.

Frequently Asked Questions

The American Association of Orthodontics recommends children receive their first orthodontic screening by the age of 7. It is around this age that some of their permanent adult teeth have come in, and we are able to observe their growth and development to keep an eye out for any issues.

First, we'll take some photos and x-rays if necessary, and Dr. Rotaru will conduct an examination of your mouth, teeth, jaws, and face. We'll go over your options, answer any questions, and cover the cost and financing options for your braces treatment. We will then develop a comprehensive treatment plan suited to your needs, and schedule an appointment for your braces placement.

Having braces put on is a pain-free process that usually takes 1 - 1.5 hours. First, your teeth are cleaned and dried. We then apply a special bonding glue and place the brackets. Finally, the archwire is run through the brackets and everything is secured in place with elastics or ties. If you're wearing self-ligating braces (which are tie-less), we'll skip that last step. When finished, we'll give you information on how to care for your braces and send you on your way!
